The mistaken idea that mediumship was a special gift of God to a favoured few has been the source of much medium worship. So common has been the notion that a medium was a superior being...that many became arrogant, proud and conceited. When the mind becomes disabused of these notions, and all individuals are regarded as having attributes in common, much of the nonsense attached to the discussion of mediumship will cease.
Just as there are talented poets, musicians, artists, inventors, orators, authors and so on, so also are there mediums. Some of the most accomplished mediums have...unconsciously dwelt in the vestibule of the spiritual world. Its harmonies have been expressed in their deeds of love, and its beauty in lives of devotion to humanity.
